Easter Egg Treats™
- 3 tablespoons butter or margarine
- 1 package (10 oz., about 40) regular marshmallows
- - OR -
- 4 cups miniature marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies®
- - OR -
- 6 cups Ready-To-Eat Cereal Cocoa Krispies™
- Canned frosting or decorating gel
- Assorted candies

3. Using 1/3-cup measuring cup coated with cooking spray divide warm cereal mixture into portions. Using buttered hands shape each portion into egg shape. Cool. Decorate with frosting and/or candies. Best if served the same day.
MICROWAVE DIRECTIONS:
In microwave-safe bowl heat butter and marshmallows on HIGH for 3 minutes, stirring after 2 minutes. Stir until smooth. Follow steps 2 and 3 above. Microwave cooking times may vary.
Note
For best results, use fresh marshmallows.
1 jar (7 oz.) marshmallow crème can be substituted for marshmallows.
Diet, reduced calorie or tub margarine is not recommended.
Store no more than two days at room temperature in airtight container. To freeze, place in single layer on wax paper in airtight container. Freeze for up to 6 weeks. Let stand at room temperature for 15 minutes before serving.
When my son had his 11th birthday and I wanted to do something really special and different for him. The cake idea was simple enough, I suppose, but it was also over-done so many times. I didn't want to do that, so instead I decided to try a new approach. Using the traditional rice krispie treat recipe, I molded the glob into the shape of a guitar. I used his own guitar as reference. With some icing, food coloring and lots of patience, I created what his friends are still calling to this day: "The most awesome birthday treat EVER!"

1. I once used the Rice Krispies with colored Krispies to make traditional treats for a baby shower. This gave me the idea to do something similar. Since those Krispies were unavailable, I substituted 1 cup of Fruity Pebbles for the recipe to add a splash of color. Less decorating to do, and a hint of flavor. I enjoyed the leftover cup of Krispies as a snack. I have also divided the recipe by 4 then added food coloring to the marshmallows before adding the Krispies, gives a real dyed egg effect ! ( use gloves to protect hands.) Colored Krispies mix would have been a great addition for this recipe, whether added to the box or packaged separately for the holiday. For Christmas I dye a small amount red and green.

2. We had trouble forming the eggs at first until we let the mixture cool more. Then we found success with an ice cream scoop. So first we got a rough shape and when they were even cooler we improved the shape with our buttered hands. They came out great! We put sprinkles on some and dipped some in white chocolate and semisweet. Yummy

3. when i make these i take a plastic egg and put the rice krispies around it leaving a hole in it and then i put candies in it and patch the hole so the kids get an extra treat when they bite into them
